I. OUR JOURNEY:

 ABOUT

  • In 2013, we opened the very first bricks-and-mortar resale store in West End, Meanjin/Brisbane. Today, although our business has expanded to multiple locations and online, our guiding principle remains: our clothing could and should be more valuable to each of us.

II. QUALITY :

 OUR PROCESS

  • We sell a curated, seasonal selection of second hand pieces that have been exchanged for cash or store credit. We offer a same-day sell and trade service and purchase all of our stock directly from our community - offering an alternative to traditional consignment stores.

  • Our qualified buyers purchase clothing and accessories based on what is currently in season and on trend. We only buy items that are clean and in great condition and take into consideration the brand, cut, colour and fabric.

III. INTEGRITY :

SUSTAINABLE, RESPONSIBLE, TRANSPARENT

  • We provide an opportunity for our community to join the circular fashion economy. Circular fashion is when garments are produced with the intention of being used for as long as possible, and then returned to the biosphere or recycled at the end of their life cycle. We fit into that ecosystem by providing a platform for high quality garments to circulate sustainably.

  • Our pricing structure is fair and transparent; our customers can make an informed decision on whether or not to accept our offer. Our buying team gives each garment a grade between 'fair' and 'mint' condition and researches resale value of each brand we resell. This helps us determine the amount of cash or store credit offered.

IV. CONNECTION

COMMUNITY

  • A key part of the SWOP process is engaging in an ongoing discussion with their community around consumption practices, and encouraging customers to make ethical and sustainable fashion choices.

  • SWOP also strives to foster community partnerships with like-minded organisations such as not-for-profits. You can learn more about our social enterprise Local Opy.

V. INCLUSIVITY:

ANYONE CAN SWOP

  • SWOP is a female-founded business, aiming to provide an experience that is safe, judgement-free and welcoming to any person who enters our stores or digital spaces. We are committed to providing an accessible space to anyone and everyone.

  • We endeavour to stock our stores with items for all bodies, striving for inclusivity and encouraging people from all walks of life to get involved in the SWOP process.

  • We provide our community with a way to shop that is not only socially and environmentally responsible but also affordable, by offering a range of modern, vintage and designer pieces to suit every price point.
